Whether it’s lighting candles for date night or tearing up the dance floor in a dark club, look no further than Rainer + Grimm’s music for your fix of groovy, soulful tunes. The R&B-influenced dance music duo has created another sultry masterpiece in the form of their new release “Tempted.” With its deep bassline and come-hither vocals by Beach Season, “Tempted” is essentially romance in sonic form: a little playful, a lot of sexual energy, and a touch of mystery come together to create a sound that’s irresistible. It’s no surprise that “Tempted” possesses the sophistication representative of true talent; Rainer co-wrote ‘Wicked Games’ and ‘Party & the After Party’ for The Weeknd alongside Drake’s ‘Shot For Me,’ and Grimm was assistant engineer to Noah ’40’ Shebib on Drake’s Grammy winning ‘Nothing Was The Same’ album, so Rainer + Grimm are no strangers to producing hits. Their penchant for creating a fusion of R&B and modern dance music has seduced fans and industry tastemakers alike around the globe.
Hailing from Toronto, Rainer Millar Blanchaer and Jeff Crake met while attending music school and instantly bonded over their love for club music. The project known as Rainer + Grimm launched in 2014 with the goal of bringing the infamous Toronto R&B scene and the underground dance music scene together, and began with the duo releasing their bootlegs on Soundcloud. The blogosphere ultimately ended up being their golden ticket when their remix of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” soared to #1 on The Hype Machine and was one of the most blogged about tracks of the year. Doors kept opening for R+G afterward, including more Hyper Machine #1s with their rendition of Gold Coast’s “Break My Fall” and their first original song “Talk to Me.” The world is becoming more and more familiar with R+G as the duo perform at events across the globe, from Splash House to Digital Dreams, and their future is looking brighter than ever. Stay tuned for new music from Rainer + Grimm this fall.
