GIOLÌ & ASSIA UNVEIL DEBUT ALBUM ISTANTANEE
OUT NOW VIA DIESIS RECORDS/BELIEVE DISTRIBUTION SERVICES
After teasing listeners with a series of pre-album singles, the multidisciplinary producer/DJ duo Giolì & Assia have finally released their debut LP Istantanee. The 10-track album intends to take listeners on a visceral journey through their musical evolution.
One of Italy’s hottest rising acts, Giolì & Assia have released their first full collaborative project since the inception of their partnership via their own label, Diesis Records. Istantanee serves as the follow up to their final single release, ‘Far Away Roads’, one of the more melodic tracks on the album. Inspired by society’s perpetual desire to capture fleeting moments in life on camera, Giolì & Assia named the album ‘Istantanee’ – the Italian word which translates to ‘polaroid’.
‘We equate the name ‘Istantanee’ to something immortal and immutable, yet pure and spontaneous at the same time.’
Now that the veil has been fully lifted, fans of the duo can enjoy the ins and outs of Istantanee’s shape-shifting sonic sphere. Long familiar with the cross sections between electronic and classical music, Giolì & Assia incorporated a mixture of classical and contemporary sounds within the foundation of the album. New, never-before-heard tracks include ‘Milky Way’, ‘Blame On Me’, and ‘Atypical’. The opening sequence, aptly titled ‘Java The Intro’, is a smooth electronica instrumental that introduces the LP with a subtle pang of feel-good energy. The trajectory of the tracks cover a wide range of human emotions in a way that feels natural throughout the course of the album.
In 2017 the pair embarked on successful fall and summer tour dates, and wrapped the year with a series of live shows in Europe and India. Not only did their performances solidify their place as an established act in the electronic music scene, but also highlighted the forthcoming release of Istantanee. The music videos for the singles ‘Starry Nights’, ‘Borderline’, ‘Paradise To Share’, and ‘How Can I’ have collectively racked up hundreds of thousands views on Youtube. The singles also landed top spots on highly lauded Spotify playlists including ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘New Music Friday Italia’, and have surpassed 1 million streams combined on the streaming platform. This is only the beginning of Giolì & Assia’s reign. This summer will see them play a series of live shows and esteemed European festivals, including SUPERMARTXÉ and Sea You Festivalalongside some of electronic music’s biggest names including the likes of Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz, Richie Hawtin, and Alan Fitzpatrick.
